Last week’s installment sought to explain that “homophobia” does not necessitate hatred. It is an anxiety that is reasoned upon God’s holy word, an aversion to immoral practices that endanger precious souls we love. This week’s contribution will give one of those reasons for a Christian’s “phobia.”
One might be “afraid” of the practices of homosexuality because of the agenda. “The Homosexual Agenda/Gay Agenda” on a homosexual website makes demands for rights based on the culture or “what everybody else does.” It also declares a certain self-centeredness, i.e. “to be able to give our love to those we choose” and “to be able to worship as we see fit.” Immediately, we see a problem, for so many live in adultery and fornication and worship as they see fit rather than in the way God has determined. The homosexual movement appeals for compassion, acceptance, and equal rights. Compassion is aroused by the demand for equal rights. As the homosexuals gain “equal rights,” they gain legitimacy, and, as their behavior is
legitimized, those who practice such things gain societal acceptance, which leads to growth in their numbers. Remember, homosexuals cannot reproduce, so they must “recruit.”
Jesus said of His age, “For the sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light” (Luke 16:8). That is again true. The pro-immortality slaves of the devil are very adept at promoting their cause in public. Television shows, movies, magazines, and music are filled with sexual promiscuity. For forty years, activists have been demanding that the public school system be enlisted as a primary engine in the effort to normalize homosexuality. In October of 2004, Ed Vitagliano reported in the American Family Association’s “Journal,” “Support for the homosexual agenda is solid in the National Education Association, American Federation of Teachers, American Association of School Administrators,
and the National Association of School Psychologists.”
On one side of the agenda is the celebration of homosexuality, especially in public schools, and on the other side is the defamation of the opposition. When the contrary views are rooted in Christian beliefs, the antagonism is even more vigorous. Religious people with conviction appear in movies and TV shows as unloving bigots. That is wrong. It is the presentation of a lie. Still, it is acceptable for a student to wear a T-shirt promoting “Gay Pride,” but it is not acceptable for one to wear a T-shirt promoting “Straight Pride.” For forty years, activists have been demanding that our culture capitulate and embrace their view of human sexuality, marriage, and family. Now that we Americans are accepting these demands, we can
expect to live in a culture that is turned upside down, literally unhinged from the safe and sane moorings instituted by God.
At least one homosexual activist has admitted to the true purpose of the battle for her acceptance. Lesbian journalist Masha Gessen said on a radio interview, “It’s a no-brainer that (homosexual activists) should have the right to marry, but I also think equally that it’s a no-brainer that the institution of marriage should not exist….The institution of marriage is going to change, and it should change. And again, I don’t think it should exist” (http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/ programs/lifematters/why-get-married/4058506). Commenting on that piece, Micah Clark wrote, “While few have been as vocal as this lesbian activist was in this interview, we do have numerical examples proving her point. When given the opportunity to marry, after laws have been struck down relatively small percentages of homosexuals actually bother to marry compared to their heterosexual counterparts” (http://illinoisfamily.org; 04/06/2013).
The agenda of the homosexual fellowship puts me in “fear.”
